Connect an AI Assistant to Relayter

The Relayter MCP Connector lets a compatible AI assistant work with Relayter through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). You can ask the assistant to inspect your configuration, explain it, or make supported changes using ordinary language.

The connector currently supports Design Libraries and static content Rulesets. It can:

  • List Design Libraries and inspect their validated library items.
  • List and inspect static content Rulesets.
  • Create static content Rulesets.
  • Create and update library item rules, asset rules, and item groups.
  • Reorder Ruleset items.
  • Retrieve the available Relayter data fields before constructing conditions and value mappings.

Before you connect

You need:

  • An active Relayter account with access to the appropriate team.
  • Permission to view or manage the Relayter content you want the assistant to use. The connector does not grant additional Relayter permissions.
  • An AI assistant that supports remote MCP connectors and OAuth sign-in.

Connect your AI assistant

The names of settings and buttons differ between AI assistants. In your assistant's connector or integration settings:

  1. Add a custom or remote MCP connector.
  2. Enter the Relayter MCP server URL: https://mcp.relayter.com.
  3. Start the connection and sign in to Relayter when prompted.
  4. Complete the authorization flow.
  5. Enable the Relayter connector in a conversation, if your assistant requires connectors to be enabled separately.

If Relayter is available in your assistant's connector directory, select it there instead of entering the server URL. The Relayter sign-in and permission steps remain the same.

Do not paste your Relayter password or an access token into a conversation. The connector handles sign-in through Relayter.

Use the connector

Start by asking the assistant to inspect existing content. For example:

  • “List my Relayter Design Libraries.”
  • “Show me the rules in the Summer Promotions Ruleset.”
  • “Explain when the badge rule is applied.”

You can also ask the assistant to make supported changes. For example:

  • “Create a static content Ruleset called Summer Promotions.”
  • “Add a library item rule for the promotional badge.”
  • “Move the price rule before the disclaimer rule.”

When a request changes Relayter data, review the proposed action and its target before approving it. A change made through the connector affects the same Relayter data as a change made in the web application.

For detailed information about the affected Relayter configuration, see Configure Static Content Rulesets and Manage Design Libraries.

Disconnect Relayter

Open your AI assistant's connector settings, find the Relayter connector, and choose its disconnect or remove action. The exact label depends on the assistant you use.

Troubleshooting

The connector does not connect

  • Confirm that the server URL is exactly https://mcp.relayter.com.
  • Restart the connection and complete the Relayter sign-in flow again.
  • Confirm that your AI assistant supports remote MCP connectors with OAuth.

Content or actions are missing

The connector follows your Relayter permissions. Confirm that your account has access to the expected Relayter team and ask your team administrator to check your access.

The connector only exposes the capabilities listed on this page. Other Relayter areas are not currently available through it.

A requested change fails

Relayter applies its normal validation rules to connector actions. Ask the assistant to show the validation error and the proposed values, then correct the request. If the problem continues, contact Relayter support with the error message and the action you attempted.
