Manage Design Libraries

Design Libraries are reusable collections of design elements — such as graphics, components, and color schemes — used in static content templates. Relayter supports two types of design libraries: InDesign libraries (for InDesign templates) and SVG libraries (for SVG-based templates).

Add a design library

  1. Go to TemplatingDesign libraries and fonts.
  2. Click Add InDesign library or Add SVG library (depending on which type you need).
  3. Enter a name for the library.
  4. Upload the library file:
    • For InDesign libraries: Upload a .idml (InDesign Library Markup Language) file
    • For SVG libraries: Upload an .svg file
  5. (Optional) Select any fonts used in the library from the Fonts dropdown.
  6. Click Save.

The library is processed asynchronously. You'll be notified when it's ready to use.

View library details

  1. Go to TemplatingDesign libraries and fonts.
  2. Click on a library name to view its details.
  3. The detail view shows:
    • The library's name and engine type (InDesign or SVG)
    • Associated fonts
    • Individual library items (design elements) with their names and tags
    • File information and metadata

Edit a library

You can update a library's metadata or upload a new library file.

  1. Go to TemplatingDesign libraries and fonts.
  2. Find your library and click the Edit action (pencil icon).
  3. Update the library name if needed.
  4. (Optional) Change the associated fonts.
  5. (Optional) Upload a new library file to replace the existing one.
  6. Click Save.

If you upload a new file, the library is reprocessed asynchronously. Templates using this library will automatically use the updated content.

Download a library file

  1. Go to TemplatingDesign libraries and fonts.
  2. Find your library and click the Download action (download icon).
  3. The library file is downloaded to your computer.

Delete a library

You can only delete a design library if it is not in use by any templates.

  1. Go to TemplatingDesign libraries and fonts.
  2. Find your library and click the Delete action (trash icon).
  3. If the library is in use by templates:
    • A dialog appears saying "The design library is in use."
    • You must remove the library from all templates before you can delete it.
  4. If the library is not in use:
    • A confirmation dialog appears.
    • Click Delete to confirm.

Use a library in a template

  1. Create or edit a static content template.
  2. In the template configuration, select your design library from the Design library dropdown.
  3. Save the template.

The template can now use all design elements (items) in that library.
